Music

Worship of the one true God is vital to our spiritual health, and a distinguishing characteristic of our Christian heritage.  Since music is a key component of traditional worship, it follows that music would be an integral part of our curriculum as a Christian School.

With this philosophy in mind, Pre-K through 6th grade students attend a 30-minute music class twice each week, with emphasis on topics such as music history, rhythm, and sight reading.  Music classes are taught by a licensed teacher with an extensive background in music, and all lessons are age appropriate for each grade level.

Students in grades 7-12 have the option of participating in Praise Band and leading the student body in worship during regular weekly chapel services

Band and Orchestra

Students enrolled at Christian Life School have the opportunity to participate in the South End Christian Bands and Orchestras (SECBO).  The SECBO program includes individual private lessons and participation in one of four ensemble groups during the school day, regular practice at home, and a variety of performance opportunities throughout the school year.  The bands are open to 4th-8th grade students and the orchestras are open to 2nd-8th grade students.  The SECBO program is led by Miss Janis Rokosz who holds a degree in Music Education and has over 40 years of personal music experience and 28 years experience teaching music.  Miss Rokosz also plays with the Dakota Valley Symphony and is a member of numerous professional organizations.

Band and Orchestra are also open to participation by homeschool students in the Twin Cities south metro, including: Farmington, Lakeville, Apple Valley, Eagan, Rosemount, Northfield, Elko, New Market, Prior Lake, Burnsville, Bloomington and other communities in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area.
