Social Studies
Social Studies is the orderly development of the social structures of the world and its people. God's controlling hand guided man through His creation of the land, the development of societies and the structure of government.
At the core of our studies are God's words spoken through Paul to the Romans: God makes it clear that a true understanding of government does not begin with a study of political institutions but with how God desires to work in the hearts of His people. (Romans 13:3-4) God has used all of history to bring conviction into the lives of men and nations. Through a teaching of history students can learn to have a greater reliance on God. Each area of study sees God as the Divine Creator of all things; in control of every aspect of history at work in the lives of individuals; in control of timing of the events on the earth; interested in causing all people to seek Him; and desirous of building our inner self-government and character.
Language Arts
Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt. (Colossians 4:6). Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Proverbs 18:21).
Language Arts is the study of writing, grammar, and literature from the perspective of a Biblical world view. Students will gain understanding of style, structure, and meaning of literature through reading and analysis of short stories, poetry, novels, and drama. CLS graduates will be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and speaking. They will be equipped to select literature, movies, and drama for their personal enjoyment that will enhance their Christian walk throughout their lives.
Science
Science is taught with the acknowledgment that the world in which we live belongs to God, who created and upholds it. Through scientific inquiry we can perceive a degree of the amazing complexity and orderliness of God's world. With this fuller understanding of creation comes a deepened awareness of the goodness and power of its creator.
Mathematics
Mathematics is the study of numerical and spatial concepts - the measurement, properties and relationships of quantities as expressed in numbers or symbols. Students are encouraged to see mathematics as part of the truth and order that God has built into reality. We cannot study or teach math without recognizing God who created a universe of order, which continues to follow a systematic pattern.
Bible
The purpose of Christian education is to equip the Christian young person with the necessary skills to succeed in life. As such, it is necessary to provide the student with a realistic, bibliocentric view of the world around him or her. Our desire is to develop in the student the mind of Christ and to equip students to think, discern, and act through Biblically-directed, Christ-centered education. To this end, biblical truth and the teaching of a biblical worldview will be integrated in all academic disciplines, from preschool to high school.
Spanish
High School Spanish courses are designed to be rigorous, college preparatory classes. Students are expected to perform at a high level so that they are able to test into intermediate Spanish courses at the college of their choosing.
