10th Grade Curriculum 
Social Studies - Economics  1 semester
Supply and demand, opportunity cost, interdependence.  These are some general principles of economics (macro and micro) with which students will become familiar.  Also covered is why economics is different for Christians and non-Christians.  Central to all concepts are lessons about how to best use God's resources.

Language Arts  2 semesters
Tenth graders continue to read selections in world literature. Longer works read include The Count of Monte Cristo, A Tale of Two Cities, Cyrano de Bergerac, Midsummer Night's Dream, and Julius Caesar.  Emphasis is placed on further vocabulary development in reading, writing, and speaking.  Tenth graders continue writing several types of essays and developing research skills to produce an interdisciplinary research paper.  Students attend and evaluate a professional theater production.

Science - Physical Science  2 semesters
This course is an introduction to Chemistry and Physics and is designed to help students understand physical science principles and recognize the application to everyday life.  Chemistry topics include the elements of life and their organization in the periodic table, solutions, formula writing, and the power and danger of chemical reactions.  Physics topics introduced are mechanics, electricity, magnetism, light, and sound.  A unit on the atom will explore God's primary building block.  Our purpose is to reinforce the physical properties that govern our world as established by God.

Mathematics - Algebra II  2 semesters
Algebra II is the further study of linear, exponential, logarithmic, quadratic, polynomial and rational functions.  Students will also reinforce their graphing calculator skills in this course.  There is a strong emphasis on solving and graphing quadratic equations through factoring, completing the square, using square roots and the quadratic formula.  Students also find roots of polynomials through synthetic division, factoring, and square roots.  Imaginary numbers will be introduced as possible solutions and roots, also, with an introduction to chaos theory and fractals.  Students will work with all forms of exponents - both rational and irrational.  In addition, this course will explore analytic geometry, discrete mathematics, probability, sequences, and series.  Trigonometric definitions and functions will be covered as the dynamics of the class allow.

Bible - Mastering Bible Study Skills  1 semester
Students will learn about the development of the Bible and the formation of the canon of scripture; how we got what we have and use today.  The second and major aspect of this course is for the students to learn and apply principles of understanding and studying the Bible.  As we learn a variety of Bible study methods we will be using them to dig into the riches and depth of scripture.  Students will be required to memorize a significant number of scripture passages.

Bible - Exploring Faith and Discipleship  1 semester
Students will explore the answers to questions regarding the nature of Faith and what implications it has for the way we live our lives. They will learn how to live out their faith through worship, service, and sharing their faith with others. Methods will include activities, discussion and reflection on various readings, as well as projects and written tests.

Spanish - Spanish 2  2 semesters
Students will participate in a comprehensive review of basic first-year material, while offering more vocabulary, commands and the preterit and imperfect tenses.  Students will translate, write and perform Don Quixote de la Mancha.
